Starting from Lucid Lynx, the control buttons are placed at the left side of the title bar in Ubuntu. This is quite cool. Once you get used to it, it seems more intuitive than having them on the right side.
But unfortunately one single app still has its buttons in right side, and that’s Google Chrome. Wish they’d let the users choose where to place the buttons.

What? Both Chromium and Google Chrome had control buttons on left since a long time, on my Ubuntu! :O
Under Google Chrome Options, go to Personal Stuff.
Find the Appearance section at the bottom, and select ‘Hide system title bar and use compact borders’
Then you’ll see what does he mean. 🙂
Forgot to mention that I am using Chromium Daily Build for Chromium and google-chrome-unstable for Google Chrome.
But I don’t think you would like to try them just to have control buttons on left. Both those packages brings nearly 20MB of updates daily!
Yeah, Daily Builds are a headache, at least for me. Hope they’d let us choose the place of the buttons later
